About the Role
Our client is seeking a compassionate and experienced Substance Abuse Counselor to join their team in Nelspruit , operating on a hybrid model. You will provide vital counseling and support services to individuals struggling with addiction, helping them on their path to recovery and a healthier life. This role combines remote therapeutic sessions with in-person consultations, offering a flexible and effective approach to client care. You will work within a dedicated team committed to evidence-based practices and client well-being in the Mpumalanga region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for clients with substance use disorders.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's specific needs and recovery goals.
- Provide psychoeducation on addiction, relapse prevention, and coping mechanisms.
- Facilitate support groups and help clients connect with external recovery resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records and progress notes.
- Collaborate with medical professionals and other support services to ensure comprehensive client care.
Requirements
- A relevant degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
- Professional registration or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor in South Africa.
- Proven experience in addiction counseling and treatment.
- Strong understanding of addiction recovery principles and therapeutic modalities.
- Excellent empathy, active listening, and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct sessions effectively both in-person within Nelspruit and remotely.
