About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Claims Assessor specializing in motor vehicle insurance to join their dynamic team in Pietermaritzburg . Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth investigations into complex motor vehicle insurance claims, gathering all necessary documentation and evidence.
• Assess liability, determine policy coverage, and calculate settlement amounts accurately and efficiently.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with policyholders, third parties, and legal representatives throughout the claims process.
• Identify and escalate suspicious or potentially fraudulent claims for further investigation.
• Negotiate settlements within authorized limits and ensure timely resolution of claims.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior claims assessors within the team.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Motor Vehicle Claims Assessor , with a proven track record of handling complex claims.
• In-depth knowledge of motor vehicle insurance policies, legislation, and claims handling best practices in South Africa .
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in claims management software and standard office applications.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in insurance, law, or a related field is advantageous.
