Senior Mine Manager - Open Pit

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and results-oriented Senior Mine Manager to lead their open-pit mining operations near Nelspruit . This executive position holds overall responsibility for the safety, productivity, and profitability of the mine. You will oversee all operational departments, drive strategic planning, and ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. The ideal candidate possesses extensive leadership experience in open-pit mining, a strong understanding of financial management, and a commitment to fostering a high-performance culture focused on safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management for all mine operations , including production, maintenance, and technical services.
• Develop and execute strategic and operational plans to achieve production targets, cost efficiencies, and safety objectives.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Manage the mine's budget, optimize resource allocation, and ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and employee engagement throughout the operation.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including corporate management, regulatory bodies, and local communities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field; MBA or equivalent management qualification preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine management, with at least 5 years in a senior management role for open-pit operations.
• Proven track record of successful P&L management and operational excellence in mining.
• Strong understanding of open-pit mining methods, equipment, and technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with stakeholder engagement and regulatory compliance in the South African mining sector.
