Mechanical Engineer - Power Plant Operations

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their operations team at a major power generation facility in Klerksdorp . You will be involved in maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment, including turbines, pumps, boilers, and generators.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures, providing timely and effective solutions.
• Conduct performance tests and efficiency analyses on plant machinery.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory compliance in maintenance activities.
• Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers for equipment procurement and technical support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a power plant or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
• Experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and condition monitoring techniques.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
