About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant and proactive Pharmacovigilance Officer to join their safety monitoring team, supporting operations based in Klerksdorp. This critical role ensures the ongoing safety of our pharmaceutical products by collecting, assessing, and reporting adverse event data. You will play an integral part in maintaining regulatory compliance and protecting public health by meticulously managing safety information. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of pharmacovigilance principles, and a commitment to patient safety in a dynamic pharmaceutical landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, process, and evaluate adverse event reports from various sources, including healthcare professionals, patients, and literature.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of safety information to regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of pharmacovigilance procedures and policies.
- Participate in signal detection activities and contribute to risk management plan assessments.
- Collaborate with clinical, medical, and regulatory affairs departments on safety-related matters.
- Assist in preparing aggregate safety reports, such as Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSURs).
Requirements
- Degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, or a related life science field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience directly within Pharmacovigilance or Drug Safety.
- Solid understanding of global PV regulations (e.g., GVP modules) and reporting requirements.
- Experience with safety databases and adverse event reporting systems.
- Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail in data assessment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a hybrid team based in Klerksdorp.
