Interstate Truck Driver

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Interstate Truck Driver to join their team, primarily serving routes from Polokwane to various destinations across South Africa. This role demands a high level of professionalism, reliability, and adherence to safety standards for long-distance transportation of goods. You will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of freight, operating modern and well-maintained tractor-trailers. The ideal candidate is adept at managing long hours, navigating diverse road conditions, and maintaining meticulous records. This is a key position within our client's logistics network, contributing to the seamless movement of products across the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailers for long-distance, interstate hauls, ensuring the secure and timely delivery of goods.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, identifying and reporting any maintenance needs.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws , Hours of Service regulations, and company safety policies.
• Maintain accurate electronic logs of driving hours, mileage, and delivery details.
• Safely load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper securing of goods.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding route status, delays, and any operational issues.

Requirements

• Valid Code 14 (EC) driver's license with a PrDP for goods.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an interstate truck driver .
• Excellent driving record with no major violations.
• Proficiency in using GPS, ELD systems , and other necessary onboard technology.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening, and background checks.
• Physical stamina for long-haul driving and occasional manual labor.
