Senior Mining Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Mining Engineer to contribute to their established mining operations in Klerksdorp . This role focuses on mine design, planning, and production optimization for both underground and open-pit environments. You will be responsible for developing safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining plans, ensuring adherence to operational targets and regulatory requirements. The position requires a deep understanding of mining methodologies, rock mechanics, and mine infrastructure, playing a key part in maximizing resource extraction in the North West province.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement short-term and long-term mine plans and schedules.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and economic analyses for new mining projects.
• Apply principles of rock mechanics and mine design to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
• Monitor and control production activities, providing technical guidance to mine supervisors and operators.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety , and environmental legislation.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Mining Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and operations.
• Proficiency in mining design software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
• Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and their application in mining.
