Toolroom Manager (Automotive Manufacturing)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Toolroom and CNC machining function.
• Manage the design, manufacture, assembly, trial and handover of stamping tools, fixtures, jigs and machined components.
• Oversee progression press tooling, tooling maintenance, breakdowns, refurbishment and engineering modifications.
• Lead and develop Toolroom, CNC, programming, design and technical personnel.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure tooling is fit-for-purpose, manufacturable and maintainable.
• Support engineering feasibility studies, including tonnage, blank size, machine capability and tooling requirements.
• Manage tooling and equipment preventative maintenance programmes and root-cause analysis of recurring failures.
• Manage internal and external toolmaking and machining suppliers.
• Drive continuous improvement, tool-life optimisation, cost reduction and production efficiency.
• Manage tooling projects, budgets, CAPEX, BOMs, timelines and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, automotive quality standards and IATF 16949.
• Maintain accurate tooling, engineering, maintenance and modification documentation.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability and continuous improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Essential

• Trade Tested Tool, Jig & Die Maker.
• Minimum 10 years experience in the automotive industry, particularly within Engineering and Design.
• Extensive Tool, Jig & Die Making experience, including significant exposure to progression press tooling.
• Minimum 5 years experience managing Engineering Projects within the automotive industry.
• Strong knowledge of tooling manufacture, processes, materials and engineering principles.
• Ability to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good understanding of automotive quality standards and tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions and Set-Up Instructions.
• Computer literate, including MS Office.
