Legal Officer - Compliance

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and organized Legal Officer with a focus on Compliance to join their team in Paarl . This role is essential for maintaining the company's adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements across its operations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and providing guidance to staff on regulatory matters. Working within the beautiful Paarl valley, you will contribute to fostering a culture of ethical conduct and legal integrity, ensuring the company operates smoothly and responsibly within its industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage effective compliance programs and policies.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential compliance gaps.
• Monitor changes in relevant legislation and regulations and advise on necessary adjustments.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance matters and ethical conduct.
• Investigate reported compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and prepare regular reports for management.

Requirements

• Law degree or relevant qualification in law or compliance.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a legal or compliance role.
• Solid understanding of South African corporate law and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training and advising staff.
• Experience working in a hybrid capacity and familiarity with the Paarl business community are advantageous.
