Commercial and Pricing Manager

We are looking for a Commercial and Pricing Manager to lead the development of robust accurate and commercially sound pricing solutions that support profitable growth.
This role plays a critical part in shaping tender submissions and contract pricing by applying strong cost accounting principles commercial judgement and financial modelling to ensure competitiveness while protecting margins and returns.
Duties & Responsibilities
Costing & Pricing
- Develop and maintain detailed costing and pricing models for tenders renewals and commercial proposals
- Apply cost accounting principles across:
- Labour assets fuel maintenance and overheads
- Fixed variable and indirect cost allocation
- Perform margin contribution and cost-to-serve analysis
- Document all assumptions sensitivities and risks for governance and audit purposes
Tender Pricing & Commercial Submissions
- Lead pricing workstreams for tenders RFPs RFQs and contract renewals
- Coordinate inputs across Operations Finance and Commercial teams
- Validate volumes productivity assumptions and delivery models
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis
- Prepare decision-ready pricing packs with clear cost build-ups margins risks and assumptions
- Support negotiations through data-backed pricing insights
Returns & Capital Efficiency
- Evaluate commercial opportunities using:
- ROI IRR NPV and payback metrics
- Assess capital intensity asset utilisation and contract structures
- Ensure pricing meets required risk-adjusted return thresholds
- Monitor post-implementation returns and support performance reviews
Commercial Analysis & Decision Support
- Provide structured insights to support pricing investment and commercial decisions
- Maintain pricing dashboards tracking:
- Tender pipeline progress
- Margin performance
- Pricing risks and assumptions
- Communicate insights clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
Governance Risk & Compliance
- Ensure all pricing activities comply with commercial frameworks policies and approval thresholds
- Maintain fully auditable models and documentation
- Escalate material risks deviations and assumption changes
- Support internal and external audit requirements
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop a team of Commercial / Pricing Analysts
- Allocate work set priorities and ensure quality and timeliness of outputs
- Review and approve models and pricing before governance submission
- Coach team members in costing modelling and commercial thinking
- Foster a high-performance disciplined and delivery-focused team culture
Minimum Requirements
- CA(SA) or CIMA essential
- Bachelors degree in Commerce Finance or Management Accounting or engineering fields.
- 58 years experience in cost accounting pricing commercial finance or tender pricing roles
- Demonstrated experience pricing complex multi-cost-driver tenders
- Exposure to logistics supply chain or asset-intensive operations (advantageous)

- Strong cost and management accounting expertise
- Advanced financial modelling and scenario analysis
- Commercial acumen and pricing strategy understanding
- Deep understanding of cost drivers in operational environments
