Production Manager

SCallaghan Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Production Manager for a well-established manufacturing company based in East London. This opportunity is suited to a results-driven leader with extensive experience managing production operations within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing production, quality, safety, operational performance and team development while ensuring efficient utilisation of resources and achievement of business objectives. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage daily production operations to ensure production targets, quality requirements and customer expectations are achieved. Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental requirements. Manage production planning, resource allocation and operational efficiencies. Oversee quality standards and ensure adherence to relevant quality systems and processes. Monitor, analyse and improve production performance through the development and management of key performance indicators (KPIs). Lead, develop and mentor production teams to drive employee performance and competency development. Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, quality, logistics and other support functions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality and cost efficiency. Manage problem-solving activities and implement corrective actions to address operational challenges. Ensure effective communication and engagement across all levels of the operation. Minimum Requirements Degree in Production Management, Operations Management or a related field. Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment. Minimum 5 years' management experience within a production or operations function. Strong knowledge of production planning and manufacturing processes. Experience working with automated production systems and robotics. Sound understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles. Knowledge of IATF 16949 and quality management systems. Computer literacy with advanced MS Excel skills. Knowledge of Total Quality Management principles and Quality Core Tools. Understanding of supply chain and operational management principles. Essential Knowledge & Skills Manufacturing and production management. Production planning and scheduling. Quality management systems and specifications. Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Technical understanding of automation, presses and assembly operations. KPI development, implementation and performance management. Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Report writing and presentation skills. Workforce management, including performance, discipline and grievance processes. Problem-solving and analytical thinking. Planning, organising and prioritisation skills. Strong communication and team engagement abilities. High attention to detail and quality focus. Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
