Senior Data Engineer / Data Consultant

Location: South Africa anywhere in the country
Work arrangement: Hybrid, with some client-site attendance
Salary: R75,000 R120,000 per month, depending on experience and capability

About the opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer / Data Consultant to join our team. While analytics engineering is our current priority, we are particularly interested in all-rounders who can work across the data and analytics consulting lifecycle.

This is an opportunity for a senior professional who can combine strong technical expertise with business understanding, client engagement and the ability to deliver trusted, high-quality data solutions.

What you will do

• Design and build clean, tested and documented analytics models.
• Develop performant semantic models using advanced DAX and Power BI.
• Define and maintain business metrics and logic, ensuring stakeholders agree on what the numbers mean.
• Translate business requirements into practical data and analytics solutions.
• Support data engineering, BI and broader consulting activities where required.
• Facilitate requirements and KPI workshops with clients.
• Contribute to presales, solution shaping, scoping and estimation.
• Lead or support delivery engagements, ensuring quality, governance and client satisfaction.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to the development of the Data Practice.

What we are looking for

• Senior-level experience in analytics engineering, data consulting or a related data discipline.
• Strong experience with semantic modelling, Power BI and advanced DAX.
• Experience working with Microsoft Fabric and the Azure Data Platform.
• A broad understanding of data engineering, BI, data science and consulting.
• Demonstrated client-facing experience, including workshops, presentations and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong business analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of delivery outcomes.
• A willingness to develop expertise across multiple data disciplines.

Experience with Databricks and Snowflake is valuable. Current Microsoft certification, or the appetite to obtain relevant certifications, is encouraged.
