Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of raw materials, consumables and services in accordance with operational requirements and approved budgets.
- Ascertain purchasing requirements from internal departments and ensure timely procurement.
- Negotiate purchasing contracts, pricing, payment terms and service level agreements with suppliers.
- Manage supplier contracts and monitor compliance with agreed terms and conditions.
- Monitor supplier performance against quality, cost and delivery requirements.
- Ensure appropriate alternative/second-source suppliers are available for critical materials and services to minimise supply interruptions.
- Monitor inventory levels and incoming logistics to ensure material availability and minimise production downtime.
- Develop and implement cost reduction and cost-saving initiatives to support margin improvement.
- Identify opportunities for improved supplier pricing, payment terms and overall procurement efficiencies.
- Ensure supplier lead times are aligned with production and maintenance requirements.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Identify and develop local suppliers in support of localisation objectives.
- Drive preferential procurement initiatives in support of the Company''s B-BBEE objectives.
- Monitor and report preferential procurement spend against agreed targets.
- Support procurement from qualifying EME, QSE, Black-Owned and Black Women-Owned suppliers.
- Ensure supplier documentation, including B-BBEE information, is maintained and up to date.
- Identify and implement procurement initiatives that contribute to the Company''s strategic and annual procurement targets.
- Prepare and maintain relevant procurement reports, analyses and records.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with Company policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
Experience Required:
- 5 years'' experience in Purchasing, Procurement or a Commercial environment.
- Experience within the Automotive and/or Steel industry will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years'' experience within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier environment.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost reduction.
- Experience with preferential procurement and B-BBEE requirements will be advantageous.
