Telecommunications Field Technician - Fibre Optic Specialist

Our client is seeking a specialized Telecommunications Field Technician with expertise in fibre optic networks to join their team in East London. This role is critical for deploying, maintaining, and repairing the fibre optic infrastructure that underpins modern communication services. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of fibre optic connections, performing splicing, testing, and troubleshooting to deliver high-quality service to customers. This is an on-site role requiring field mobility and a dedication to technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test fibre optic cables and associated hardware.
• Perform fibre optic splicing using specialized equipment, ensuring optimal signal transmission.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fibre optic network issues, identifying faults and performing repairs.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on fibre optic infrastructure.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Adhere strictly to safety standards and company installation guidelines.

Requirements

• Technical qualification or certification in Fibre Optics, Telecommunications, or Electronics.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in fibre optic installation and maintenance .
• Proficiency in using OTDR, fusion splicers, and other fibre optic testing equipment.
• Knowledge of various fibre optic cable types and termination methods.
• Ability to work at heights and in various environmental conditions.
• Valid driver's license and good physical condition.
