Senior HSE Manager - Energy Sector

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior HSE Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental initiatives for their energy operations based in Soweto . This critical role involves developing and implementing robust HSE strategies, programs, and policies to ensure a safe working environment and minimize environmental impact across all operational sites. You will champion a strong safety culture, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. This position offers the opportunity to significantly influence safety performance and sustainability within the energy sector in Gauteng .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
• Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international HSE regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors.
• Lead emergency response planning and preparedness activities.
• Monitor environmental performance and implement strategies for pollution prevention and waste management.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in HSE management, preferably within the energy or industrial sector.
• In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations , best practices, and management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and developing corrective actions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
