Mechanical Design Engineer - Process Equipment

About the Role

Our client seeks a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in process equipment to join their team in Benoni . Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for process equipment, such as pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
• Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and P&IDs.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations to verify design integrity, including stress analysis and fluid dynamics.
• Select appropriate materials and components, considering operational conditions, cost, and availability.
• Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and site installation teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues encountered during manufacturing, installation, or operation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design of process equipment or related industrial systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD Plant 3D) and relevant engineering analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science relevant to process industries.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
