Sports Facility Maintenance Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sports Facility Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep and operational readiness of their athletic facilities in Polokwane. This role is crucial for ensuring that all sports venues, fields, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe and optimal environment for athletes and events. You will manage a maintenance team, coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance schedules, and oversee the budget for facility upkeep. This position requires a strong background in facilities management, with a specific focus on sports-related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative and reactive maintenance plans for all sports facilities.
• Supervise and direct a team of maintenance staff, including groundskeepers, technicians, and repair personnel.
• Ensure all athletic fields, courts, and indoor facilities are maintained to optimal playing and safety standards.
• Manage the procurement of maintenance supplies, equipment, and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
• Oversee the upkeep and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the facilities.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, and manage the maintenance budget for Polokwane.

Requirements

• Proven experience in facilities management, with a specialization in sports venue maintenance or groundskeeping.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance or operations role.
• Strong knowledge of sports field construction, maintenance, and turf management.
• Familiarity with building systems, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and team management skills.
• Relevant certifications in facility management or a related trade are highly desirable.
