About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Physicist specializing in Experimental Condensed Matter to join their advanced research facility in Nelspruit . This is a critical role focused on designing, conducting, and analyzing cutting-edge experiments to explore novel material properties and quantum phenomena. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of fundamental physics research and contributing to the development of next-generation technologies. The ideal candidate is a seasoned experimentalist with a deep theoretical understanding and a passion for discovery within a well-equipped laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute sophisticated experiments using state-of-the-art equipment (e.g., cryogenics, high magnetic fields, advanced spectroscopy). Analyze experimental data using statistical methods and computational tools, interpreting results in the context of theoretical models.
- Develop novel experimental techniques and apparatus to probe material properties.
- Contribute to the writing of research papers, grant proposals, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with theoretical physicists and other researchers to advance scientific understanding.
- Mentor junior researchers and postdoctoral fellows in experimental techniques and data analysis.
Requirements
- PhD in Physics, with a specialization in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics.
- Minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience.
- Proven expertise in experimental techniques relevant to condensed matter physics.
- Strong theoretical understanding of solid-state physics and quantum mechanics.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Python, MATLAB) and experimental control systems.
- Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and oral.
