Senior Environmental Health Officer

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced Senior Environmental Health Officer to contribute to maintaining and improving public health standards within the Benoni area. This senior role involves a combination of field work, policy development, and community engagement to address environmental health risks. You will be responsible for inspecting various premises, enforcing health regulations, and educating the public on health and sanitation matters. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive inspections of food establishments, public spaces, and other regulated premises to ensure compliance with health codes.


• Investigate public health nuisances, complaints, and environmental hazards, taking appropriate enforcement actions.


• Develop and implement strategies for disease prevention and control related to environmental factors.


• Provide expert advice to local authorities and community groups on environmental health issues.


• Prepare detailed reports, maintain accurate records, and present findings to relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Environmental Health or a related field from an accredited institution.


• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in environmental health practice and regulation.


• In-depth knowledge of public health laws, sanitation standards, and food safety regulations.


• Proven experience in inspection, investigation, and enforcement activities.


• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.


• Strong communication, presentation, and report-writing abilities.
