Control Room Operator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and technically proficient Control Room Operator to manage and monitor operations at their facility in Soweto . This role is critical for overseeing the production process, ensuring smooth operations, and responding effectively to alarms and emergencies. You will be responsible for monitoring key parameters, adjusting equipment settings, and communicating with field personnel to maintain optimal production levels. This position requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to work under pressure, and a strong understanding of process control systems within the oil and gas industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor plant operations continuously via SCADA and DCS systems.
• Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, process upsets, and emergency situations.
• Adjust process variables to maintain optimal production rates and product quality.
• Communicate effectively with field operators, supervisors, and other departments.
• Maintain accurate logs of operational activities, events, and parameters.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in process operations or instrumentation is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Control Room Operator in a process plant environment, preferably oil and gas.
• Proficiency with SCADA and DCS systems and process monitoring.
• Strong understanding of plant processes and safety procedures.
• Excellent observational skills, decision-making ability, and composure under pressure.
