Senior Analytical Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join their Quality Control and Research department in Randburg . This position will involve developing, validating, and implementing advanced analytical methods to characterize chemical compounds and ensure product quality and safety. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining sophisticated analytical instrumentation and interpreting complex data to support product development and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytical chemistry, extensive experience with various spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques, and a meticulous approach to quality assurance. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and validate analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS, and NMR.
• Perform routine and non-routine analysis of samples, ensuring accuracy, precision, and timely reporting of results.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain a range of analytical instruments, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Interpret analytical data, identify deviations from specifications, and investigate root causes.
• Contribute to the development of new chemical products and processes by providing analytical support.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols within the Randburg laboratory.

Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical chemistry, preferably within the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Extensive hands-on experience with chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC) and spectroscopic methods (UV-Vis, FTIR, MS).
• Proficiency in method validation according to ICH guidelines or similar standards.
• Strong understanding of chemical principles and experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment in Randburg.
