Research Assistant - Genetics Laboratory

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory procedures, including DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
• Prepare reagents, solutions, and media required for experiments.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments, results, and inventory.
• Assist in data collection, entry, and preliminary analysis.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting minor issues as they arise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Genetics, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related life science field.
• Hands-on experience with basic laboratory techniques, preferably in a genetics or molecular biology setting.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety guidelines and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow protocols accurately and efficiently.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a lab environment in Durban .
