About the Role
Our client is seeking an expert Grid Integration Specialist to join their innovative team in Richards Bay . This role focuses on ensuring the seamless and stable integration of new energy sources, including renewables and storage solutions, into the existing power grid. You will work at the forefront of energy technology, contributing to the modernization and resilience of the national electricity network. The position requires a deep technical understanding of grid operations, regulatory frameworks, and emerging energy technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze the impact of new generation and storage technologies on grid stability and performance.
- Develop and implement technical requirements for grid connection of new energy assets.
- Collaborate with grid operators, utilities, and technology providers to facilitate smooth integration.
- Perform detailed modeling and simulation of grid behavior under various scenarios.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, standards, and evolving grid integration technologies.
- Provide expert advice and technical support to internal teams and external partners.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
- At least 6 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a specialization in grid integration .
- In-depth knowledge of grid codes, operational procedures, and power market regulations.
- Proficiency with grid simulation software (e.g., PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Experience with renewable energy forecasting and curtailment strategies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
