Senior Design Engineer

POSITION INFO:
Job Description: Design and develop industrial refrigeration systems in accordance with industry standards and client requirements Conduct site assessments and evaluate existing installations to identify performance improvement opportunities Perform heat load calculations and complete detailed system designs Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation Manage supplier engagement and obtain quotations for capital equipment Participate in tender and bid processes from initial assessment through submission Develop designs with a focus on safety, energy efficiency, performance, and cost optimization Provide technical support to project teams throughout project execution Attend client and consultant meetings and provide expert engineering recommendations Perform system audits and compile technical reports Support and mentor junior engineers and designers Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and remain informed on new technologies and industry developments Skills & Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial refrigeration system design Proven experience producing complete refrigeration system designs from concept through implementation Strong understanding of heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system integration Experience preparing technical documentation, project specifications, and Bills of Materials Familiarity with tendering processes and engineering project documentation Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, suppliers, and project teams Highly organised with strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects within a deadline-driven environment Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D will be advantageous Qualification: BTech or BEng in SAQCC Category C certification is essential Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
