In-House Counsel - Commercial Litigation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated In-House Counsel with a specialization in Commercial Litigation to join their established legal team based in George . This role is critical for managing and resolving a variety of legal disputes that affect the business. You will be responsible for developing litigation strategies, managing external counsel, and representing the company's interests effectively. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse cases within a supportive corporate setting in the scenic Western Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute legal strategies for commercial disputes and litigation.
• Manage all aspects of litigation, from initial assessment to settlement or trial.
• Liaise with and manage external legal service providers and counsel.
• Provide timely and practical legal advice to internal stakeholders on litigation risks.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft pleadings, applications, and other court documents.
• Monitor legal developments and advise on their potential impact on the company's operations in George .

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with at least 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience, with a strong focus on commercial litigation .
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex litigation cases from inception to resolution.
• Excellent understanding of civil procedure and evidence law in South Africa.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a demanding caseload.
• Membership in the relevant Law Society is required.
