QUALITY CONTROL ASSISTANT
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Production Line Quality Checks
Conduct routine quality checks on containers and lids throughout production.
Check products for cracks, distortion, incomplete moulding, sharp edges, contamination and other visible defects.
Verify product colour, appearance, dimensions, weight and lid fit against approved samples and specifications, using provided measuring equipment where required.
Identify and promptly report defects or recurring quality problems to the production supervisor.
Clearly identify and separate rejected or suspect products to prevent them from being mixed with acceptable stock.
Warehouse Quality Checks
Inspect stored stock and orders being prepared for dispatch for damage, contamination, incorrect products and packaging defects.
Check that products are correctly packed, labelled and identified, including batch details where applicable.
Monitor storage conditions and handling practices that could affect product quality.
Assist with inspecting returned stock and isolating products requiring further assessment.
Records, Hygiene and Teamwork
Complete inspection sheets and record defects, rejected quantities and findings accurately.
Follow up on identified issues and assist with rechecking products after corrective action.
Follow company hygiene and contamination-prevention procedures for food-contact packaging.
Keep inspection areas and equipment clean and organised.
Work closely with production and warehouse teams to resolve quality concerns.
Refer decisions on releasing held or rejected stock to the authorised supervisor.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
At least one year of hands-on quality checking or quality control experience, covering production-line products and warehouse stock.
Matric (Grade 12)
Ability to read and understand English instructions, product specifications and labels, and complete written inspection records.
Good counting skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to recognise defects and compare products against approved samples.
Reliable, observant and comfortable reporting quality concerns promptly.
Able to carry out inspections on the factory floor and in the warehouse.
Previous experience in plastic manufacturing or food packaging would be advantageous.
Willingness to work shifts and overtime when required.
