ASSEMBLY FITTER (Heavy Equipment & Mobile Plants)

Our client, a leading company in the mobile crushing, screening, and material-handling equipment sector, is seeking a skilled Assembly Fitter to join their workshop team in Johannesburg, East Rand. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and quality-focused assembly of machines and sub-assemblies across the company's range of equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble machines, components, and sub-assemblies according to approved assembly instructions and specifications
• Read and interpret assembly drawings and technical documentation
• Install hydraulic circuits by accurately interpreting and working from hydraulic diagrams
• Identify and report non-conforming components or completed work to the Team Leader for corrective action
• Ensure all assembly work meets the required quality and workmanship standards
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the workshop
• Assist with general workshop duties when required
• Provide practical solutions to technical and assembly-related challenges
• Work overtime when required to meet operational demands
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and departmental requirements
• Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations and procedures are consistently followed
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational requirements
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment
• Take responsibility for the safe and correct execution of all assigned work

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar assembly or fitting environment
• OEM Fitting experience
• Qualified Fitter with recognised trade certification / trade papers
• Matric (Grade 12)
• Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic diagrams
• Strong mechanical and assembly skills
• Previous experience working with conveyors, crushers, screens, or similar heavy equipment will be advantageous
• Good problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to work under pressure and meet required deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Good organisational and planning skills
• Results-driven, reliable, and accountable
• Perseverance and a practical, solutions-focused approach
