Remote Senior Legal Counsel - Tech & IP

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Senior Legal Counsel with a strong focus on Technology and Intellectual Property (IP) law to join their globally distributed team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. You will be responsible for providing strategic legal guidance on all technology-related matters, including software licensing, data privacy, IP protection, and digital transformation initiatives. This role requires a proactive individual who can navigate the complexities of technology law and contribute to the company's innovation and growth on an international scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal counsel on technology transactions, including SaaS agreements, software licensing, and cloud computing arrangements.
• Develop and implement strategies for the protection, management, and enforcement of the company's intellectual property portfolio (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets).
• Advise on data privacy and security matters, ensuring compliance with global regulations such as POPIA, GDPR, and CCPA.
• Support product development teams by providing legal guidance on new technologies, features, and services.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex technology-related contracts and IP licenses.
• Manage and resolve IP disputes and litigation, working with external counsel as needed.

Requirements

• Admitted attorney with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, specializing in Technology Law and Intellectual Property .
• Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, particularly SaaS and IP licenses.
• Strong understanding of global IP laws and practices, including patent, trademark, and copyright law.
• In-depth knowledge of data privacy regulations and cybersecurity best practices.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a remote work environment.
