WatersEdge Solutions is partnering with a small, customer-focused restaurant in George to find a friendly, capable and hands-on Restaurant & Kitchen Manager.

This is a practical management role for someone who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day running of a restaurant rather than managing from the sidelines. You’ll lead a team of approximately nine employees while ensuring customers receive excellent service and that food quality, cleanliness and organisation remain at a consistently high standard.

About the Role

The Restaurant & Kitchen Manager will take responsibility for the smooth daily operation of both the front-of-house and kitchen environment.

You’ll coordinate the team, manage rosters and shifts, allocate responsibilities and address day-to-day staff matters while creating a positive and respectful working environment.

Customer interaction is also an important part of the position. You’ll be visible and approachable, welcoming customers, handling queries and resolving complaints professionally. The ideal person will be comfortable stepping in wherever needed to keep service running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the restaurant and kitchen.

• Lead, supervise and coordinate a team of approximately nine employees.

• Allocate daily duties and ensure responsibilities are clearly communicated.

• Prepare and manage staff rosters and shift arrangements.

• Motivate the team and maintain a respectful, positive working environment.

• Address day-to-day staff matters and maintain appropriate workplace discipline.

• Ensure team members are well presented and provide friendly, professional customer service.

• Welcome and engage with customers.

• Respond to customer questions, requests and concerns.

• Handle complaints calmly, professionally and with a solutions-focused approach.

• Monitor food quality and presentation before orders are served.

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and overall restaurant presentation.

• Work closely with both kitchen and front-of-house staff to maintain smooth service.

• Step in and assist operationally wherever required during busy periods.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous hands-on restaurant, kitchen or hospitality experience.

• Experience supervising or managing staff.

• Confidence coordinating both people and day-to-day restaurant operations.

• Strong customer service skills and confidence dealing directly with customers.

• Ability to handle complaints professionally and calmly.

• Good organisational and roster-management skills.

• Strong awareness of food quality, presentation and cleanliness standards.

• A practical, hands-on management style.

• Ability to remain organised and composed in a busy restaurant environment.

• Availability to work from 11:00 until closing, five days per week.

• Availability to work weekends according to the roster.

• Ability to start as soon as possible.

Nice to Have

• Previous Restaurant Manager or Kitchen Manager experience.

• Experience managing a similar-sized restaurant team.

• Experience across both front-of-house and kitchen operations.

• Previous responsibility for staff rosters, shift planning and workplace discipline.
