NATIONAL INSTALLATIONS TECHNICAL MANAGER - AA/EE - Randburg

POSITION INFO:

POSITION PURPOSE

The National Installations Technical Manager is responsible for the national end-to-end delivery of installation-related projects, ensuring projects are effectively initiated, planned, executed, monitored and successfully closed in line with business objectives, customer requirements and operational capacity. The role serves as the central link between customer rollout requirements and internal technical and operational execution, co-ordinating activities across Sales, Business Systems, Technical Services, Installation Services, Supply Chain, Finance and Customer Experience. Through structured project governance, systems enablement, process optimisation and data-driven decision-making, the role is responsible for developing scalable installation capability, improving operational efficiency and ensuring consistent and predictable project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

System Enablement & Process Optimisation

Ensure projects are effectively integrated into existing installation workflows and operational processes.
Identify, recommend and implement improvements to installation processes, systems, tools and resource utilisation.
Align project execution with relevant field-service, planning, mobile and business systems to ensure operational readiness.
Drive national standardisation of rollout methodologies, documentation and system usage.
Lead the optimisation, integration and enhancement of field-service-related platforms.
Oversee system integrations to ensure alignment with operational workflows and business requirements.
Manage system access, permissions and security controls in accordance with governance requirements.
Lead System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Monitor system performance and implement improvements to promote stability, accuracy and operational efficiency.
Maintain data accuracy, integrity and consistency across operational systems and reporting platforms.
Support digital transformation and workflow automation initiatives.

Installation Project Management

Manage the complete project lifecycle for national installation initiatives, from initiation through to successful close-out.
Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, dependencies, risks and success criteria.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules and resource requirements.
Monitor project performance against agreed milestones, budgets and available operational capacity.
Identify, assess and mitigate project risks and ensure appropriate escalation where required.
Implement structured project governance, reporting, steering forums and PMO requirements.
Co-ordinate internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment between customer, sales, technical and operational requirements.
Ensure completed projects are effectively transitioned into business-as-usual operations.
Facilitate Agile project activities including stand-ups, backlog refinement and sprint reviews where appropriate.
Co-ordinate training material and deployment-readiness requirements with Learning & Development.
Manage testing scenarios, regression testing and production deployments.
Maintain continuity and operational support across critical installation and field-service systems.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

Serve as the central co-ordination point between customers and internal project delivery teams.
Translate customer rollout requirements into practical technical and operational plans.
Manage rollout schedules according to customer readiness and available operational capacity.
Maintain proactive customer communication and provide visibility of project milestones and progress.
Manage customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee project closure, including acceptance sign-off, documentation and alignment of billing with completed deliverables.
Build effective relationships across internal departments, customers, suppliers and external partners.
Lead and develop effective cross-functional project teams.

Leadership & Change Management

Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional technical and operational teams.
Drive collaboration and accountability across departments and external partners.
Lead change-management initiatives to support successful adoption of new systems, processes and working practices.
Promote a positive, inclusive and performance-driven working environment.

Financial & Commercial Management

Manage project budgets, cost controls and resource utilisation.
Ensure accurate financial tracking and appropriate cost recovery.
Align invoicing with agreed project deliverables and milestones.
Support commercial forecasting, ROI assessments and profitability analysis.
Identify and implement cost-reduction and operational-efficiency initiatives.
Manage vendor contracts, licences and service-level agreements.
Maintain accountability for financial integrity, wastage, theft and non-compliance.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

Maintain comprehensive documentation and audit trails relating to projects, systems and implemented changes.
Ensure compliance with applicable IT governance requirements, POPIA and relevant ISO standards.
Facilitate Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes and deployment approvals.
Implement structured change-management, risk-assessment and rollback procedures.
Conduct internal governance reviews and support internal and external audit requirements.
Provide governance and compliance reporting to executive leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Matric / Grade 12 - NQF Level 4.
National Diploma in Engineering, Technical, IT, Project Management or a related discipline - NQF Level 5.
Recognised Project Management certification such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile or equivalent.
PSIRA registration - minimum Grade A.
Degree in a relevant Technical or Business discipline - advantageous.
Valid South African driver''s licence.
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 5 years'' project management experience within a technical or operational environment.
Minimum 3 years'' managerial or supervisory experience.
Proven experience managing large-scale rollouts or multi-site implementations.
Experience co-ordinating multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
Experience within field service, installations or technical delivery environments.
Demonstrated experience implementing new systems and optimising operational processes.
Strong capability in troubleshooting complex technical, business and operational challenges.
