Process Control Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Process Control Engineer to enhance automation and control systems for their chemical operations in Randburg . This role is critical in ensuring optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of our production processes through advanced control strategies. You will design, implement, and maintain sophisticated control systems, working with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The ideal candidate is adept at bridging the gap between process engineering and automation technology, contributing to a more responsive and reliable manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission advanced process control strategies (e.g., APC, PID tuning).
• Configure and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Develop and implement process automation solutions to improve efficiency, safety, and product quality.
• Troubleshoot control system issues and provide ongoing support to operations teams.
• Collaborate with process engineers to integrate new control strategies into existing operations.
• Develop P&IDs, control narratives, and documentation for automation projects.

Requirements

• B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Chemical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in process control engineering, preferably in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proficiency with major DCS platforms (e.g., Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV) and PLC programming.
• Strong understanding of process dynamics, instrumentation, and control theory.
• Experience with simulation and modeling of control systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on automation.
