Bridges Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Bridges Engineer to join their expanding infrastructure division in Randburg . This hybrid role will involve the design, analysis, and project management of new bridge construction and the assessment of existing bridge structures. You will work on a variety of projects, applying advanced engineering principles to ensure the safety, durability, and efficiency of critical transportation infrastructure. This position offers a blend of office-based design work and necessary site visits, providing a comprehensive experience in bridge engineering within a dynamic urban context.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for various types of bridges, including concrete and steel structures.
• Develop detailed design drawings, calculations, and specifications for bridge construction and rehabilitation.
• Conduct condition assessments and load ratings for existing bridge structures.
• Ensure all designs and assessments comply with relevant national and international bridge design codes (e.g., SANS 10160, SANS 10162).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including road engineers, geotechnical engineers, and construction personnel.
• Oversee construction activities related to bridge projects, ensuring quality and adherence to design intent.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural or Bridge Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in bridge design and analysis.
• Proficiency in bridge design software (e.g., MIDAS Civil, SAP2000, RM Bridge) and CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of bridge construction methods and materials.
• Experience with bridge inspection and assessment techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
