Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Design automation system architectures incorporating PLC/DCS, SCADA/HMI and instrumentation.
- Develop and program control systems using Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7, PCS7 or equivalent platforms.
- Integrate PLCs, drives, instrumentation, field devices and industrial communication networks.
- Conduct and support FAT, SAT, commissioning, loop testing, I/O verification and final handover.
- Troubleshoot, optimise and improve automation systems and industrial processes.
- Ensure automation projects comply with applicable ISO, safety and industry standards.
- Manage and document automation software changes through MOC processes.
- Support project scoping, technical proposals and cost estimation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
- Participate in rotational standby support, including after-hours, weekends and public holidays when required.
- Travel to client sites as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- BEng / BTech in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years experience in industrial automation.
- Proven experience with PLC, SCADA and/or DCS systems.
- Strong experience with Siemens automation platforms, particularly TIA Portal, Step 7 and/or PCS7.
- Experience across industrial sectors such as Mining, FMCG, Water or similar.
- Experience with FAT, commissioning and site handovers.
- ECSA registration or eligibility advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.
- Siemens TIA Portal / PCS7 certification advantageous.
Technical Requirements
- PLC: Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7, PCS7; Rockwell / Schneider advantageous.
- SCADA/HMI: WinCC, Ignition, Aveva.
- Industrial Networks: Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP.
- Functional Safety / SIL-rated systems.
- VSDs and Soft Starters setup, tuning and commissioning.
- Automation system architecture and configuration.
- CAD for system design, panel layouts and wiring schematics.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
