Chemical Engineer - Project Management

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Chemical Engineer with strong Project Management skills to join their team in Benoni . This role will involve leading and managing capital projects from conception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required technical specifications. You will liaise with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and contractors, overseeing all phases of project execution. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, a thorough understanding of chemical processes, and a proven ability to manage complex projects successfully.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and closing of capital projects within the chemical manufacturing facilities.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
• Manage project risks, identify potential issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure projects comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee contractor performance and manage vendor relationships.
• Prepare project reports and present progress updates to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 3 years in project management.
• Demonstrated experience managing capital projects in a chemical or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.
