Lead VFX Artist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary and experienced Lead VFX Artist to join their creative powerhouse in Nelspruit . You will be responsible for the conception and execution of stunning visual effects that elevate our projects, working within a dynamic hybrid environment. This role requires a blend of artistic talent, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills to guide a team of VFX artists. You will play a key role in defining the visual style and quality of effects, ensuring they are both artistically compelling and technically sound.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and implementation of high-quality visual effects for games, films, or other media.
• Collaborate with directors, art leads, and technical teams to achieve the desired aesthetic and technical goals.
• Develop and refine VFX techniques, tools, and workflows to optimize production efficiency.
• Mentor and guide a team of VFX artists, providing constructive feedback and ensuring artistic consistency.
• Manage VFX asset creation, from initial concept through to final integration.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in VFX technology and software.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in visual effects artistry, with a strong portfolio showcasing complex and compelling effects.
• Proficiency in VFX software such as Houdini, Maya, After Effects, and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Strong understanding of particle systems, simulations (e.g., fluids, destruction), and real-time rendering techniques.
• Excellent artistic eye for timing, composition, and color.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to communicate technical and artistic ideas effectively.
