SUMMARY:
E-Plan Electrical Design Draughtsman
POSITION INFO:
Our client is seeking a precision-driven, highly organised and proactive EPLAN Draughtsman to serve as the sole custodian of EPLAN electrical design documentation across all projects — from setup through to final as-built handover!
Essential Qualifications:
- Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Industrial Automation or related field (essential)
- Formal EPLAN Electric P8 certification/training (essential)
- Computer literacy (MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, MS Project)
- AutoCAD or EPLAN software experience
Essential Experience:
- 2-4 years producing electrical drawings in EPLAN (industrial automation, panel-building or systems integration)
- Managing revision control and drawing registers across multi-document, multi-project workloads
- Incorporating site redlines into as-built documentation
- Working knowledge of SANS and IEC electrical installation standards
- Reading and interpreting schematics, single-line diagrams and loop diagrams
- Experience in both Food & Beverage and Automotive industries (non-negotiable)
Key Responsibilities:
EPLAN Project Management:
- Set up and manage EPLAN projects in line with approved templates and drawing standards
- Produce accurate electrical schematics, panel layouts, terminal diagrams, cable schedules and wiring details compliant with SANS, IEC and customer-specific standards
- Maintain strict revision control and a live, accurate drawing register across all active projects
- Extract accurate BOMs and cable schedules from EPLAN to support procurement
Documentation & As-Built:
- Manage the full redline lifecycle with site E&I Technicians — collection, review and integration into the master EPLAN file with full audit traceability
- Produce clean as-built documentation (EPLAN native + PDF) as the final deliverable on every project close-out
Standards & Mentorship:
- Own EPLAN training and standards across the business
- Onboard new staff and mentor junior draughtsmen on drawing standards and revision control
- Proactively flag issues and missing information before they surface on site
