Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician

Our client is seeking a skilled Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to ensure the optimal performance and availability of all ground equipment essential for flight operations in Mahikeng. This role is critical for maintaining the efficiency and safety of ground handling activities, including baggage handling, aircraft towing, and ground power units. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of a diverse range of GSE machinery. The ideal candidate is a practical, hands-on technician with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, dedicated to supporting the seamless functioning of the airport environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various types of GSE, such as tugs, belt loaders, de-icing units, and service vehicles.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues affecting GSE performance.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status.
• Ensure all GSE is operated safely and in compliance with aviation safety regulations and company policies.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables for GSE maintenance.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure rapid repair to minimize operational delays.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a technician working with heavy machinery, preferably Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic and repair skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance instructions.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to ground operations and equipment handling.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain airport security clearance.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively in a team in Mahikeng.
