Drilling Engineer - Project Management

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Drilling Engineer to manage complex drilling projects in the Tembisa area. This role involves overseeing all aspects of drilling operations, from planning and design to execution and post-well analysis, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will be instrumental in selecting appropriate drilling technologies and methodologies, managing service providers, and ensuring adherence to strict operational and safety standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute detailed drilling programs , including well design, casing design, and cementing plans.
• Manage drilling operations on-site and remotely, overseeing rig operations and service providers.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for drilling hazards.
• Monitor drilling performance, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations during drilling operations .
• Prepare comprehensive post-drilling reports and analyze performance against objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Drilling Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in drilling engineering, with a strong focus on project management .
• Proven experience in managing offshore or onshore drilling projects.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid systems, well control, and directional drilling.
• Familiarity with oilfield equipment and technologies.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication abilities.
