Buyer - Raw Materials

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturing company in Stellenbosch , is seeking an experienced Buyer specializing in raw materials. This critical role will focus on sourcing and procuring high-quality raw materials to meet production demands efficiently and cost-effectively. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring a stable and reliable supply chain. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute directly to the production process and work within a renowned organization in the Western Cape region, balancing office-based strategic work with necessary site visits.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and qualify suppliers of raw materials, ensuring adherence to quality and compliance standards.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with raw material suppliers.
• Manage inventory levels of raw materials to prevent stockouts while minimizing holding costs.
• Monitor market trends and commodity prices to inform purchasing decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with production and quality control teams to ensure material specifications are met.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier communications, and inventory data.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Buyer or in a related procurement role, specifically with raw materials.
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively and build strong supplier relationships.
• Solid understanding of supply chain management principles and inventory control.
• Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
