About the Role
Our client seeks an experienced and proactive HSE Manager to lead their Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives in Pretoria . This senior role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust HSE policies and procedures across all operations to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory standards. You will champion a strong safety culture, conduct risk assessments, and manage incident investigations to prevent future occurrences. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication skills, and a deep commitment to upholding the highest HSE standards within the challenging oil and gas industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive HSE management systems aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and manage incident investigations , root cause analysis, and ensure timely reporting.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors.
- Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all permits and licenses are up-to-date.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in HSE management , preferably within the oil and gas sector.
- In-depth knowledge of South African HSE legislation and international standards (e.g., OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety policies and emergency response plans.
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
