Senior Credit Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Credit Analyst to join their credit risk department in Bloemfontein. In this critical role, you will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, analyzing financial statements, and making recommendations on loan applications. You will play a key part in managing the institution's credit portfolio, ensuring sound lending practices, and minimizing potential financial losses. This position is ideal for an experienced credit professional with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of credit risk assessment within the banking sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and market data to assess the credit risk of corporate and individual borrowers.
• Prepare detailed credit proposals and recommendations for loan approval or rejection.
• Monitor the performance of existing loans and the credit quality of the portfolio.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients to gather necessary financial information and understand their business needs.
• Ensure compliance with the bank's credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct industry research and economic analysis to support credit decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related business field.
• A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in credit analysis, corporate lending, or a similar role within a financial institution.
• Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow forecasting, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Familiarity with credit scoring models and loan structuring techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with loan origination or credit management systems.
