About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in molecular diagnostics , is seeking an accomplished Senior Geneticist to join their research and development team in Polokwane . This role is instrumental in developing and implementing advanced genetic testing methodologies to diagnose a range of inherited and acquired conditions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize novel molecular and genomic assays for diagnostic applications.
• Perform complex genetic analyses, including sequencing, genotyping, and variant interpretation.
• Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic datasets using bioinformatics tools.
• Validate new diagnostic tests according to regulatory and quality standards.
• Collaborate with clinicians and researchers to integrate genetic testing into patient care pathways.
• Stay current with advancements in genetics, genomics, and diagnostic technologies.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in human genetics or molecular diagnostics research.
• Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, DNA sequencing platforms, and bioinformatics analysis.
• Proven experience in assay development and validation for diagnostic purposes.
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, CLIA).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
