Automotive Electrician - Fleet Maintenance

About the Role

Our client requires a diligent and experienced Automotive Electrician specializing in fleet maintenance for their operations in East London . This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal functioning of electrical systems across a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex electrical faults, performing repairs, and conducting preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure safety and compliance. This is an essential on-site position within a busy workshop environment, demanding precision and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems in a fleet of commercial vehicles, including trucks, vans, and buses.
• Troubleshoot issues related to lighting, starting and charging systems, batteries, wiring harnesses, and electronic control units (ECUs).
• Perform installation and repair of auxiliary electrical equipment, such as GPS trackers, auxiliary lighting, and power inverters.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and diagnostic software to identify and resolve electrical problems.
• Conduct routine electrical inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure fleet reliability and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and parts inventory for electrical components.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Electrician, with a focus on heavy vehicles or fleet maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, AC/DC circuits, and automotive diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and understand complex electrical schematics and repair manuals.
• Proficiency in using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other specialized electrical testing equipment.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license is essential; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is advantageous.
