Remote Electrical Engineer - Automation Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Remote Electrical Engineer with a specialization in automation to join their globally distributed team. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to design and implement advanced automation solutions from the comfort of your home office, impacting projects across various industries. You will be responsible for developing control systems, integrating hardware and software, and ensuring the seamless operation of automated processes. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly organized, and possesses a deep understanding of industrial automation technologies. This role is based in Port Elizabeth, but offers the flexibility of remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) for various automation projects.


• Develop and implement SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for process monitoring and control.


• Select appropriate sensors, actuators, and control hardware for specific applications.


• Integrate various automation components and ensure interoperability between systems.


• Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for installed automation solutions.


• Document control system designs, logic, and configuration thoroughly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.


• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.


• Proficiency with programming languages for PLCs (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and HMI development.


• Experience with SCADA systems and industrial networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).


• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote setting.


• Strong communication skills for collaborating with remote teams and clients.
