Mechanical Engineer - Process Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Mechanical Engineer specializing in Process Design to join their team in Nelspruit . This role is crucial for optimizing and developing the mechanical aspects of industrial processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and reliability. You will be involved in the design, modification, and troubleshooting of process equipment and systems. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical systems commonly used in industrial settings, and thrives in a hands-on, project-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer mechanical components and systems for industrial processes, including piping, pumps, heat exchangers, and reactors.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for mechanical systems.
• Perform thermal and hydraulic calculations to size equipment and ensure process efficiency.
• Collaborate with chemical engineers and other specialists to integrate mechanical designs into overall process solutions.
• Ensure all mechanical designs comply with industry safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and operational phases of process equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in process design and mechanical engineering within an industrial environment.
• Proficiency with CAD software for mechanical design and P&ID development.
• Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials science.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a project team.
