Irrigation Specialist - Agricultural Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Irrigation Specialist to join their team in Benoni , focusing on designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient irrigation systems for agricultural applications. You will play a key role in optimizing water usage, ensuring crop health, and improving farm productivity through innovative irrigation solutions. This position involves site assessments, system design, technical consultations with farmers, and overseeing installation and maintenance. The role requires a combination of field work in the Gauteng region and office-based design and planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess farm land and crop requirements to design optimal irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, etc.).
• Select appropriate irrigation equipment and materials based on site conditions and client needs.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications for irrigation projects.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of irrigation systems, ensuring quality and adherence to design.
• Provide technical support and training to farmers on irrigation system operation and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair existing irrigation systems to ensure efficient performance and water conservation.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in irrigation.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in agricultural irrigation design, installation, or management.
• Proficiency in irrigation design software (e.g., AutoCAD, IrriPro) and hydraulic calculations.
• Strong understanding of water management principles, soil science, and crop water requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
