Environmental Services Assistant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a committed Environmental Services Assistant to support cleanliness and safety standards at their facilities in Polokwane . This role is fundamental to creating a healthy and welcoming environment for everyone. You will be involved in a variety of tasks aimed at maintaining high levels of hygiene, including cleaning, waste management, and general upkeep of premises. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsible, and works efficiently to ensure all areas are kept to the highest standards. This is an entry-level position with opportunities to learn and grow within the environmental services sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning duties in assigned areas, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Ensure restrooms are clean, well-stocked, and presentable at all times.
• Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables in accordance with facility protocols.
• Assist with special cleaning projects as needed, such as deep cleaning or post-event cleanup.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and report any issues or need for repairs.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience in cleaning or sanitation is an advantage, but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Basic understanding of health and safety in a cleaning context.
• Good communication skills to report issues or receive instructions.
