Planner – Construction / EPC Projects
Location: Johannesburg office and project sites
Contract: 6-month fixed-term contract; a 12-month contract may be considered for a suitable candidate

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Planner to develop, monitor and maintain project programmes for large-scale construction / EPC projects. Experience within electrical infrastructure, substations, renewable energy or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is preferred.
The successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement and construction teams to maintain accurate schedules, track progress and identify potential delays.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Establish work breakdown structures, activity dependencies, milestones and baseline programmes.
• Collect and verify progress information from project teams and subcontractors.
• Update schedules and assess performance against approved baselines.
• Monitor the critical path and identify delays, constraints and risks to completion.
• Prepare look-ahead programmes, progress reports and schedule forecasts.
• Work with project and construction managers to develop recovery programmes and assess alternative work sequences.
• Evaluate the scheduling impact of scope changes, procurement delays and site constraints.
• Maintain planning records to support project reporting and delay assessments.
• Attend planning and progress meetings at the Johannesburg office and project sites.

Candidate requirements

• Relevant planning and scheduling experience on large-scale construction / EPC projects.
• Experience within electrical, substation, renewable energy or BESS projects would be advantageous.
• Proficiency in project planning and scheduling software.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, critical path analysis and progress measurement.
• Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate planning inputs across multiple teams and contractors.
• Willingness to travel between the Johannesburg office and project sites and undertake site-based work when required
