About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Intellectual Property Attorney to join their innovative legal team in Randburg . This specialized role involves protecting and enforcing clients' intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. You will manage IP portfolios, advise on IP strategy, and handle litigation related to IP infringement. The ideal candidate is a technically adept and strategically minded lawyer with a passion for innovation and a proven ability to safeguard valuable intellectual assets, contributing significantly to the firm's IP practice in Gauteng.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute patent, trademark, and copyright applications.
• Conduct IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and licensing agreements.
• Advise clients on IP protection strategies and portfolio management.
• Represent clients in IP litigation, including infringement and validity disputes.
• Prepare and negotiate IP-related contracts, such as licensing and R&D agreements.
• Stay abreast of developments in IP law and technology.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with specialized experience in Intellectual Property Law.
• Strong technical background (e.g., science, engineering) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in IP prosecution and/or litigation.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Proficiency in IP database search tools and legal research platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective IP strategies.
