Data Scientist - Financial Services

About the Role

Our client, a leading institution in the financial services sector, is seeking a talented Data Scientist to join their innovative analytics team in Sandton. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and validate predictive models using machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning).
• Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and data visualization to uncover trends and patterns.
• Clean, transform, and prepare large, complex datasets for analysis and modeling.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define analytical requirements and translate them into data science solutions.
• Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar quantitative role.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and associated data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with SQL and working with large relational databases.
• Proven ability to apply statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to solve real-world business problems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with experience in the financial services industry being a significant advantage in Sandton.
